From furnaces in the 1930s to today's high-efficiency HVAC systems, our heating and cooling company has continually adapted while staying true to our core values. And we are still showing up every day.
With deep roots in Central Ohio and the support of a national leader behind us, our milestone represents not just our history, but the generations of customers and relationships that have shaped who we are today and where we are headed.

A Historical Reflection on Our Columbus HVAC Company
What Year Was the Company Founded?
Columbus Air, one of the two companies that would later form Columbus Worthington Air (CWA), was founded in 1936. That makes us one of only two HVAC companies in the Columbus market to reach the 90-year milestone. Even as the industry and its technology have changed, we have remained a trusted name in home comfort.
How Did Columbus Worthington Air Get Its Name?
Our current name is the result of a merger of two companies. In the 1970s, William A. Wentz purchased Worthington Trane. In the 1980s, he acquired Columbus Air. He later combined the two businesses, creating the company we proudly operate as today, built on the strengths and traditions of both organizations.
Is There a Special Story Behind Our Start?
We started as a family-owned business and grew through strong leadership and a simple commitment to providing superior HVAC services in Columbus, Ohio. Over the years, we have grown and changed, but the heart of our company has stayed the same: doing the job right, treating people honestly, and building relationships with customers who come back generation after generation.
What Are Some Notable Milestones Over the Years?
There have been many proud moments, but our recent growth stands out. Over the past 10 years alone, we have grown from 40 employees to 120 employees.
In 2010, we relocated from Hilliard to our current home in Worthington. As General Manager Matt Daubenmire shares, "In 2010, we moved from Hilliard to our current location in Worthington. The move marked a new chapter of expansion and visibility in the community."
